Buffalo Chip at Night

As night falls at the Buffalo Chip campground things come to a climax. People that have been drinking and taking other type of medications to help them relax are now that. All types have gathered here, the moms that are everyday homemakers wanting something different, to the professionals that are just tired of being, well, professional. They want to see and be part of a different kind of lifestyle if only for one night. Here at the Chip you can find that and more. The night we were there, Dee Snyder from the mid 80's group Twisted Sister, was walking through the crowd just as anyone else, to have a good time and to party. Of course there were girls dancing behind us standing on a picnic table taking their tops off waving to Kid Rock in hopes of getting his attention. There were the Harley-Davidson motorcycles with their well known V-twin engines and loud pipes that had driven right up to the front of the stage roaring as if to say here I am, I've come to party. The atmosphere is something beyond words. Everyone is laughing and dancing asking where are you from? It seems everyone is from somewhere else but Sturgis. They've all gathered here at the Chip to be part of the experience that they are creating. Don't worry though, with all this going on there is plenty of security so we never felt unsafe. However be warned people really start letting loose after the sun goes down at the CHIP.

Sigsbee Navy Lodge Key West FL.

While kayaking in a lagoon at the Sigsbee Navel Lodge & Marina in Key West Florida we shot this photo of these two pelicans. Key West has a large variety of birds including white and brown pelicans.  In 2005 Hurricane Wilma hit and devastated the population.  Their numbers have increased since that time. Pelicans often form a line as seen in the pictures below so they can feed together on schools of small fish.  These pelicans seem to be used to humans because we were able to kayak fairly close without disturbing them. As we watched these two, bickering with each other over a fish, the pelican on the left turned his back to the other one and the one on the right buried his head into his feathers. It was as if the pelican on the left had bad gas and the pelican on the right was tying to avoid the smell. LOL

Sturgis Rally - Glencoe Campground - Kenny Chesney Concert

These pictures were taken the night we went to the Glencoe Campground to see the Kenny Chesney concert.  The previous night Larry the Gable Guy was on stage and because someone was struck by lighting during a severe storm his show ended early and his tickets were to be honored at the Kenny Chesney concert the following night.  That made for an even larger crowd at the Chesney concert. There was such a line of traffic waiting to get into the concert, that when Kenny came on stage he was nearly two hours late. Kenny didn't want to start his concert without everyone being there. The opening act Pat Green kept everyone entertained while we waited for the Chesney show to start. When Kenny finally did come on stage he did not disappoint. WOW what a show it was. There really aren't any rules in Sturgis for concerts apparently so Kenny pulled out all the stops playing into the wee hours of the morning. I'm not sure what was in those red cups Kenny kept drinking from and then smiling, but what you could tell was Kenny himself was having a great time. There was a Bra pole on stage that filled up quickly from women in the crowd throwing their bras on stage. Kenny and his band were havening as much fun on stage as the crowd was having watching from below. Kenny played all of his country favorites and even got into playing his rock&roll favorites as well. fun fun fun.. Inside the concert area  there are plenty of stations for food, drinks, and vendors of all sorts that are selling a little of everything. It was truly a fantastic evening that I will never forget. Glencoe is located just down the road from the Buffalo Chip and across from the Full Throttle Saloon, which is just outside of downtown Sturgis. Check it out it is well worth it.

Patio Gardens at the Biltmore Mansion

This is a view from the outside covered patio adjacent to the Biltmore Mansion.  It is covered with natural foliage and is surrounded by all types of plants.  This is a unique tree on the edge overlooking the immense flower beds. The Blue Ridge Mountains are in the distant.  It is an example of the breathtaking natural beauty across the 8,000 acres of the estate.  

Dancing Girls at the Art & History Museum Key West Florida

We took this picture of the Art & History museum while visiting Key West Florida. It is a magnificent red brick building with a unique design and style for Key West. This now landmark served as the city’s first Federal Building until it was transformed into the Museum of Art & History. All around the building you will find artist inspirations and interpretations of stories told through their sculptures.
When I had visions of naked girls dancing all around me this is not what I had in mind.
