Red Sox Nation in Texas

While in Texas, we were able to see Big Papi play at Texas Rangers Stadium in their final series of the 2016 season.  Lots of Boston fans were there. It was a great game.  Boston came back in the final innings to win! Big Papi is a world class player on and off the playing field. Officially the Red Sox organization will retire his number this season.

Journey to the Center of the Earth...almost

During our recent trip to Texas, we took a detour to visit Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico.  Each evening 300,000-600,000 bats fly out of the cavern entrance looking for their evening meal.  The hike down in to the entrance of the Big Room was 1.25 miles.  The Big Room was the size of 14 football fields. It was like being in a different world.

Alma, New Brunswick ... pull the plug drain the ocean

Alma was the second stop on our trip to Nova Scotia.  It is a small village near the Bay of Fundy that boasts the highest tides in the world.  When we arrived, the tide had pulled out, leaving the local fishing vessels sitting on crates and hovering above the muddy sea floor.  The villagers couldn't have been nicer and we stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast overlooking the bay called the Cliffside Suites.  Very cozy and inviting....just like the rest of the little village!
