Shenandoah Valley - Skyline Drive

We took this picture shortly after entering Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive.  Skyline Drive runs about 100 miles beginning in Front Royal, Virginia.  It brought us to the entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway which is Rockfish Gap near Waynesboro, VA. . There were beautiful views of the valley below and the distant mountains.  It was an incredibly peaceful ride but you have to watch out for wildlife including deer and bears.

Nashville TN - Country Music Festival

We are huge country music fans so we couldn't miss out on the Country Music Festival in Nashville Tennessee.
We took this picture overlooking the Cumberland River on our way to one of the nightly concerts
at the home of the Tennessee Titian's stadium. In the foreground of the stadium there is a
river paddle boat called the General Jackson.

Sunset celebration - Key West FL

This is a picture we took down at Mallory Square in Key West FL as people began to arrive for the nightly sunset celebration.  If you travel to Key West, you can't miss this event.  We had heard about it before our trip so we wanted to make sure we experienced it.  A large crowd gathers every dusk on the waterfront and on the boats to watch the sun set.  There are street entertainers and plenty of food and drinks to be had!

Sturgis Motorcycle Rally - Black Hills SD

This was a great little roadside spot we stopped at while visiting the Black Hills.  The riding was spectacular and the weather was perfect.  We were able to stop for a cold one and meet some fellow riders as well.

Devil's Tower - America's First National Monument

When we were in SD for the Sturgis Rally, we decided to take a ride out to Wyoming to see Devil's Tower.  The roads were simply beautiful with wide curves.  The only traffic was a handful of other motorcycles.  The countryside is wide open so when we first saw the tower in the distance it was truly spectacular. We stopped along the road on our way to take this distant view.

Grandfather Mountain - North Carolina

We rode our Harley-Davidson up to the top of Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina.  That was an experience! The mountain has an elevation of nearly 6,000 feet.  To go to the summit, we had to ride up a very narrow, steep road with tight hairpin turns.  When we arrived at the summit, you can walk across a mile high suspension pedestrian bridge to another section of the summit.  We took these pictures on the other side of the bridge. The ride back down the mountain was tricky but definitely worth it.

Finger Lakes-Lake Seneca winery

This is a view of the vineyard at Glenora Winery, the oldest winery on Lake Seneca.  It was a breathtaking view as you gaze down the slopes to the lake below.

Linn Cove Viaduct - Blue Ridge Parkway, NC

The Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC is an amazing sight to see and a great road for motorcycling.  It is a concrete bridge that snakes around Grandfather Mountain and is at an elevation of 4100 feet.  It was constructed to preserve the beauty of Grandfather Mountain.  We stopped and took this picture from the approaching roadway.

Camping at Hog Heaven Sturgis

We camped at Hog Heaven campground in Sturgis, South Dakota.
What can I say? The campground was perfect. It was quiet and spacious. There were clean facilities and hot water for the showers every day.  They also offered nightly live entertainment, a bar, and a couple of places to grab food or drinks.  It was very conveniently located but still offered a quieter place away from all the rally attractions.  We always felt safe the staff was always attentive and friendly. It is an A+ campground and definitely a place we would stay at again.  The top picture is from our campsite and the bottom is our site.

Keystone SD - Home of Mt Rushmore

We rode through Keystone SD which is the home of Mt Rushmore.  The streets are lined with places to gather and watch the passing Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Blue Ridge Parkway

We found this mill when riding the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina.
The most photographed feature on the Parkway.

Key West Florida

We love to travel with our Harley-Davidson
We shot this photo while vistiting Key West Florida at sunset.

Shenandoah National Park, SkyLine Drive

This was day two of our trip to Asheville North Carolina.
Skyline Drive in August was perfect, the temperature in the valley
was around 90 degrees mid day, but up on the ridge of skyline drive it was a
delightful 75 degrees and sunny. While riding the ridge we saw black bear, deer, and thousands of
butterflies. Literally thousands of butterflies it must have been mating season.

Tail of the Dragon

Riding the Tail of the Dragon . We left Asheville North Carolina
around 7:30 am. We were entering the dragon around 9:00am, 318 curves in 11 miles.
On the way there we went through Cherokee North Carolina. beautiful country.

Finger Lakes - Western New York - Lake Keuka

Leaving Penn Yan we went out riding around Lake Keuka.  The road had slow, easy turns and there was  literally no traffic in front or in back of us.  It was such a quiet and peaceful ride.  We stopped for lunch at a  restaurant on the lake called Snug Harbor.  The bottom picture is from their lakeside deck.

Lake Seneca
