Ride bare back at the Buffalo Chip

We took this picture of the very popular "Miss Chippie" concrete sculpture which is located directly in front of the general store inside the Buffalo Chip. Miss Chippie has been featured on the History and National Geographic channels. It is one of the first things you see as you enter the plaza area.  Around the sculpture you can find all kinds of vendors selling beer, mixed drinks, a variety of foods, as well as all kinds of merchandise for the biker crowd. 

Blue Ridge Parkway Grandfather Mountain North Carolina

 Riding the Blue Ride Parkway we decided to take the auto-road to the peak of Grandfather Mountain. 

Once safely at the top of the mountain we took a walk across the Mile High swinging foot bridge. The bridge itself is at an elevation of over 5000 feet while the gorge immediately below is probably a few hundred feet. Never the less when on the bridge dealing with the wind and the bridges swaying, it is a harrowing experience. A must do for an adrenaline rush.

I collected these Harley-Davidson Teddy Bears for my daughter when she was just a little girl... Now she is all grown up and eyeing my Harley-Davidson Motorcycle for herself.

This is an example of the beautiful women who attend rallies and/or ride.  Motorcycling is not only about beauty but it is about being an individual and having a sense of confidence and freedom.  That is a great logo that stands for more than the brand of motorcycle; it's a lifestyle. 

Texas Tavern - Roanoke Virginia

While on our trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway, we passed through Roanoke, Virginia.  We stopped at the Roanoke Harley Davidson and chewed the fat with some of the local people working and shopping in the store.  We asked if there were any local interesting places that we could have lunch. They told us that we shouldn't leave Roanoke without a stop at the historic Texas Tavern.  This tavern opened in 1930 and is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day except for Christmas.  This is a friendly little establishment and we do mean little.  There are 10 seats lined up at the counter and that's it.  There is a sign that says "We seat 1000 people-10 seats at a time".  The tavern is known for its chili and burgers.  Famous customers have included the "3 Stooges" and the old band leader Glenn Miller.  The tavern is also reported to be the most photographed building in Roanoke.
